Chicago, IL – The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance is hosting a virtual summit for people living with depression or bipolar disorder, their friends and family, healthcare providers, and mental health advocates. The five-day virtual summit will take place from October 10ctober 14 and those interested can register here.
The event aims to empower people living with mental health conditions, such as depression and bipolar disorder, by providing them with practical information, wellness tools and resources. The virtual summit will also be of interest to caregivers, clinicians, students, DBSA chapter leaders, and anyone else who is passionate about mental health.
Some highlights of the Summit include:
- Presentations on concrete steps attendees can take to aid in reforming the mental healthcare system
- Information on taking charge of one’s own mental healthcare
- A sneak preview of two episodes of the YouTube series State of Mind with Maurice Benard. Benard, a film and television veteran, member of the Actor’s Studio, three-time Emmy Award winner, and mental health advocate who lives with bipolar disorder, will interview DBSA CEO Michael Pollock and mental health activists Michele Bibby.
- Fun events, like a night off-Broadway, a movie screening, a cooking class, and more.
The Summit will equip attendees with free tools and resources that are not only vital to improve one’s own mental health but will also help facilitate changes to the mental health system at the local, state, and federal levels.
“Mental health is a bigger issue than ever before,” DBSA CEO Michael Pollock said. “We’re excited to bring our community together and equip them with tools and resources to improve their own mental health and the mental health system more broadly.”
“The DBSA Summit comes at a time when the world is just beginning to shun the stigma around mental health.” said Mohammad Younas, vFairs CEO. “We at vFairs are glad to provide a safe virtual space to DBSA where discourse around mental health can happen freely and openly.”
